A SET UP TO FAIL

President Obama delivered a message at West Point about a 30,000 surge in troops in Afghanistan. Almost one year after our troops hit the ground they will begin the exodus. The only message the Taliban and Afghan rebels received was that, ‘Allah is patient your prayers will be answered soon.’ Simply lay low for a year or so and you will regain the initiative. The message to U.S. troops is ‘why risk your lives for a mission that the president has written off.’ I believe that this is a dangerous way to approach this situation. Why Mr. President did you reassure the Taliban that we’ve already pre-planned a surrender date. What’s the point? Even if your intention was to secretly win this war at all costs and prepare the Afghan security forces to take over. Please tell us that you didn’t just do this to tell the American public that you gave the Generals what they wanted. Please tell us that once the troops leave and we fail that you will not blame it on the generals.
